Ec 451 Microenterprises in Developing Areas

Explores the development, growth, organizational and institutional issues facing small businesses in Asia, Latin America and Africa. Examines the use of micro-finance as a method to support development and how existing socio-economic, institutional, and political issues affect Micro-enterprises. Economic survival strategies of entrepreneurs and the nexus between promoting the success of micro-enterprises in the developing areas and economic development will be explored. Also offered for graduate-level credit as Ec 551 and may be taken only once for credit.
