FILM 584 Anatomy of a Movie I: Product of the Studio Era

First in a sequence intended for advanced film students. Operates as a case study of one well known, critically acclaimed film of the studio era, examining the industrial, technical, cultural, and artistic elements in the film's production, exhibition and reception. Topics include studio ideology and production strategies, the star system, and historic context and meaning of films. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as FILM 484 and may be taken only once for credit.
