G 524 Geographical Information Systems for the Natural Sciences
Spatial data are input, analyzed, and displayed. Techniques covered include: data management, projections and reference datum, digitizing, raster and vector operations, spatial statistics. Class projects apply data management and analysis techniques to the natural sciences. Weekly professional quality lab reports are required. GIS tutorial followed by a gateway exam is used to demonstrate mastery of introductory material. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as G 424 and may be taken only once for credit.

Prerequisite: Upper division standing in a physical or life science or mathematics program.
