Soc 552 Education and Equality: Comparing the US, Asia, Europe
Despite the promise of equal opportunity, US public schools produce vast inequalities in educational outcomes compared to other nations. Why? The course examines the impacts of tracking, testing, teaching styles, race, class, and gender in the US through comparisons of Japan, Singapore, Germany, and Finland. Also offered for undergraduate-level credit as Soc 452 and may be taken only once for credit.
