USP 591 Geographic Information Systems I: Introduction
The use of computers in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping. Includes theory of databases related to geographic information management and practical aspects of database design. Students will use a variety of programs for mapping and spatial analysis of geographic information. Each student completes a series of exercises demonstrating a variety of approaches to the analysis and display of spatial data.

Recommended prerequisite:
Geog 380 or equivalent experience in cartography. Students enrolling in this class must register for a computer lab section. Also listed as
