Stat 243Z Elementary Statistics I
A first course in statistics focusing on the interpretation and communication of statistical concepts. Introduces exploratory data analysis, descriptive statistics, sampling methods and distributions, point and interval estimates, hypothesis tests for means and proportions, and elements of probability and correlation. Technology will be used when appropriate. Not approved for major credit. This is the first course in a sequence of two:
Stat 243Z and
Stat 244 which must be taken in sequence.
Prerequisite
Completion of
Mth 095 with a grade of C- or above within the last year, or passing at the necessary level on the mathematics placement test within the last year (see Math Department webpage at mth.pdx.edu for information).
