Analysis of harmony, melody, texture, and phrase structure in examples from classical, jazz, blues, and popular song styles. Continued study of functional harmonic syntax with introduction to voice leading. Introduction to rhythmic archetypes of Latin and African diasporic music. Simultaneous enrollment in
MUS 115 and
MUS 192 is recommended for most music majors and minors. This is the second course in a sequence of three:
Mus 111,
Mus 112, and
Mus 113.
