PIAA 301 Introduction to Pacific Islander Studies
Critical examination of historical and present-day experiences of Pacific Islander people in Oceania and the Continental US. Through an interdisciplinary approach, this course centers Pacific Islander indigeneity and self-determination, and explores the resistance, resilience, and ongoing struggles of Pacific Islander communities. Literature, music, and poetry are some of the modalities used to explore the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and culture as they pertain to Pacific Islanders.
