Ec 447 Economicsof Transition
Examines the formation of the Soviet-type economic system in the 1920s and 30s and its dissemination after World War II to Eastern Europe, China, and other selected countries. Emphasis is placed on the history of ideas and the historical setting which gave rise to the Soviet model. Includes the examination of the internal contradictions of the model, the "unwinding" of planned socialism, and the prospects for the move toward mixed market economies. Recommended:
