Stat 561 Mathematical Statistics I

Taught at a higher level than Stat 461, 462, 463. Provides a solid foundation in the theory and methods of statistical inference. Topics include conditional distributions, functions of random variables, sampling distributions, order statistics, convergence in distribution and convergence in probability, central limit theorems, sufficiency, point estimation, confidence intervals, and testing of statistical hypotheses, most powerful tests, likelihood ratio tests, categorical data analysis, regression, nonparametric methods, and Bayesian inference. This is the first course in a sequence of three: Stat 561, Stat 562, and Stat 563.
